Bluesfest 2017 is about to get bigger with a new addition to kick off the new year in Jimmy Buffett and The Coral Reefers, the prolific U.S. singer-songwriter and his band known for a string of hits like ‘Margaritaville’, ‘Come Monday’ and, of course, ‘Cheeseburger In Paradise’.

With over 50 albums under his belt, he’ll have a wealth of material to bring to the Byron stage, and Bluesfest director Peter Noble reckons Jimmy’s island stylings will be the perfect match for the Byron festival’s relaxed setting.

“Hey Parrotheads… Jimmy Buffett is coming to play one totally exclusive show at Bluesfest on April 14. YES, Jimmy is coming all the way to Australia to play one show just for you! Jimmy and The Coral Reefers will be present and presenting his unique “island escapism” style at the epicentre of Australian escapism… Byron Bay.”

“Parrotheads”, if you’re wondering, is in reference to Jimmy’s very loyal fanbase, who often come to shows dressed up in colourful attire to soak up his signature tropical vibe.

“When Jimmy Buffett isn’t sailing on his yacht, or hanging out at his beach shack in the Caribbean, he plays where and when he wants to… and he has chosen Bluesfest this time!” Peter adds. “When Jimmy does decide to go on tour, he is one of the highest grossing artists anywhere. This is a coup, and Bluesfest is proud to bring him to our stage.”

Jimmy joins iconic acts like Santana, Pattie Smith, The Doobie Brothers, Madness, Jethro Tull, Buddy Guy and Mary J Blige, as well as a new generation of artists like The Lumineers, Grammy-nominee Gallant, and plenty more.

The festival was hit recently with the cancellation of headline acts Neil Young and Bee Gees legend Barry Gibb, but is on the front foot to keep building the lineup as we approach the Easter festival. It all goes down April 13 – 17, with 5, 3 and 1-day tickets and camping available from the Bluesfest website.
