One of our favourite emerging Melbourne bands Fan Girl joined in a big gig for charity last week, and capped it all off with a live cover version of one of our cinematic faves: the closing song from Jack Black’s School of Rock.

Local synth act Yollks jumped up to help out on vocal duties as the band did their best Mr. Schneebly impressions for the sake of charity, with all the proceeds going to the local Collingwood branch of mental health charity Headspace, and it all brought back a few memories for us of a flick we haven’t watched for a good few years.

Joining the band at the gig was a stacked lineup including Hayden Calnin, Cousin Tony’s Brand New Firebird, Arbes, Sophisticated Dingo, Sunbeam Sound Machine DJs, and the aforementioned pairing of Fan Girl and Yollks. The stage was almost as packed for this one as it was in the movie itself, and it all looked like a hell of a lot of fun – give it a look below.
