Green Day have slowly slid from being the band who featured two separate songs about masturbation on their major label debut, to one that makes political statements and concept albums – which turn into Broadway shows.
The video to their latest single, ‘Troubled Times’ is a statement about the… well, troubled times we live in at the moment, with the impeding presidential reign of this guy…
In a statement accompanying the clip, Billie Joe Armstrong simply states: “Today we celebrate love and compassion more than ever.”
The video was released on Martin Luther King Day, and juxtaposes footage of King’s civil rights speeches, with that of a devil Trump, complete with a Make America Great Again cap.
