Daryl Braithwaite has been forced to cancel a run of shows after “sudden admission” into hospital.

The legendary vocalist – who with ‘Summer Love’ and ‘One Summer’ has voiced two of the most undeniable anthems for this season in Aussie music history – was scheduled to perform at the Australian Open last night, and the Mornington Peninsula Red Hot Summer Tour shows this weekend (alongside Nollsie, Farnesy, James Reyne and Taxiride – in case you were looking for the most Aussie lineup ever).

The Black Sorrows featuring Vika and Linda will be stepping in to replace him this weekend.

“I unfortunately and regrettably have had to cancel this week’s shows due to illness and sudden admission into Hospital”, he wrote on Facebook. “I am disappointed that I won’t be able to perform at the Australian Open Tennis tonight nor the Mornington Peninsula RHST shows this weekend.

“I am hoping to make a speedy recovery and be back doing shows very soon.”

Here’s to a speedy recovery, Daryl.
