Spank Rock has been in the limelight for over 10 years, having risen to fame with his debut album YoYoYoYoYo in 2006. Recently though, Aussie fans have fallen in love with him again through his live performances with The Avalanches, and it looks like he’s also fallen in love with Australia, and its many musicians, as well.

Speaking to triple j recently, Spank Rock has let slip that he’s been working hard at completing his new album, which will quite possibly feature Melbourne producer Swick.

This tour did fall in a specific time when I am trying to finish a new album. I had to take a little hiatus from the record,” he explained to triple j’s Lunch program.

It may be possible that we see the young bull Swick from Melbourne featured on the album too. I’m really excited about that ’cause we’ve been in the studio a lot this past two weeks.”

While we haven’t got too much more info on Spank Rock’s follow up to his second album, 2011’s Everything Is Boring And Everyone Is A Fucking Liar, we do know he’s been a busy man lately.

In addition to his recent performances with The Avalanches, he’s managed to jump on the lineup for the Sugar Mountain festival taking place in Melbourne today, with one of his legendary DJ sets all set to go ahead.

If the recent Avalanches gigs have got you in the mood for a recorded collaboration between the two, you might just be in luck, with The Avalanches Twitter account recently mentioning that both Spank Rock and Posdnous from De La Soul have been recording verses recently.

Does this mean The Avalanches have new music coming out soon, or will we be waiting until 2032 to find out? Let’s hope it’s the former, since we’re already excited.
