Taken from her forthcoming EP Blue My Soul, ‘In The Heat’ is just the latest example of why we’re so drawn to Iluka – a gorgeous, stirring voice that grabs you by the guts and doesn’t loosen its grip for a moment.

The video accompaniment is also quite a treat, a collage of colourful abstract imagery serving as the perfect backdrop to Iluka’s dulcet vox. It’s appropriate enough considering the spirit quest the songs seem to have undertaken in order to make it here, Iluka explaining that they were “born in a Buddhist Monastery in South East Asia, took shape through a utopian human experiment in Southern India, and matured on the vast arid expanses of the American desert.”

With all of that taken care of, the songs were then mostly self-produced, before being mastered by David Walker (Stonefield, Snakadaktal) and set for release this Friday the 17th. You can pre-order Blue My Soul right now, or you can grab a copy in person when Iluka stops by your town on her eight-date tour, which fires up March 16 in Port Macquarie and continues along the East Coast into April – dates below.
