He has been a paid musician for over fifty years, and now Elton John is finally gaining a foothold in the insular Wollongong music scene, managing to secure his first gig in the city this September.

The September 24 show at WIN stadium is the latest to be added to his Once In A Lifetime Australian tour, which will see him play a run of regional dates in September, steering clear of the capital cities.

“I always love coming back to Australia,” he said in a statement. “It holds a very special place in my heart. My band and I are really looking forward to playing there again in September and this tour will be even more memorable because it will be the first time I have ever played Wollongong.

“If the audience in The Gong is anything like those at all of the other shows we have done in New South Wales over the years, everyone will surely be in for a wonderful night!”
