Linkin Park’s new single ‘Heavy’ featuring Kiiara is quite divisive, with the pop sheen not pleasing fans of the band at all.

They teamed up with Kiiara to perform the single on The Late Late Show with James Corden, and fans who thought the new single was just an anomaly aimed at the pop charts – and not an indication of forthcoming album One More Light – have more bad news in store.

“One of the reasons why we chose ‘Heavy’ as the first single is because it is really the core sound of the album,” Mike Shinoda revealed to Billboard. “This wasn’t a scenario where the whole album sounds one way and the single sounds different. This is how the album sounds.

“So we wanted to go out with a song like that, where everybody can get a sense of the direction of this body of work.”

The album is available May 19.
