Animal Collective have already treated us to one EP this year, but now they’ve given us a second, the contemplative Meeting of the Waters.

As reported by Spin, the EP was first released as part of this year’s Record Store Day, but its four tracks are now available for anyone with a laptop to enjoy. Recorded in the Brazilian rainforest by Avey Tare, together with an episode of Viceland program Earth Works.

Featuring very little in the way of a traditional song structure, and with more animal sounds than anything else, it’s not quite what we’d normally throw on as we’re approaching a Friday night – but it’s quite a beautiful listen nonetheless.

Maybe we’ll give it another spin at 4:30am.
