Dave McCabe- front man of The Zutons- is in court this week after being accused of breaking a man’s nose in a fight last February outside a Liverpool pub.
It was a boozy night for all, and apparently when a joke was made at McCabe’s girlfriend’s expense, he let loose and head-butted Peter Appleby, who was laughing at the comment.
One of Appleby’s friends joked that McCabe’s girlfriend looked like she had a beard because of the fur collar on her jacket which, in retrospect, is rather amusing. Obviously McCabe got a bit sensitive about dating a girl with a beard, and went for the holy grail of pub fights- the Glasgow Kiss. McCabe is claiming it was self-defence – arguing he was surrounded by Appleby’s friends.
