Tone Deaf Asks The Tough Questions

We’d like to know a little bit about you for our files, but we don’t like regurgitating press releases or asking the easy questions. At Tone Deaf we only ask the tough questions, so just hold still, grit your teeth, clench your buttocks and be still while we put on the rubber gloves, apply the thumbscrews, and pull out our thermometer while you open up and say ahhhhhhhhhhh… Truthful answers only or we drink your rider while you’re on stage.

Who gets the most ‘off stage action’ in the band? What’s the secret to their success?
Umm I would have to say our manager at the moment haha. He kinda looks like Antonio Banderas/Pat Rafter/A Bum. His secret – he wears two shirts at all times. The outer shirt has to be a long sleeved flannel.

Have you ever been arrested? Where were you, and what was it for?
I wouldn’t say arrested but pretty close. I was at schoolies in Surfers Paradise. On the last night and I jumped this gap between two balconies into a club to see The Scare play. Anyway this random chick was behind me, saw me do it and ended up trying to jump the gap like I did, but missed, fell one story down and smashed her head on the concrete underneath. I was hiding in the club freaking out because I had heard it happen. This bouncer got me and pulled me downstairs and was like ‘look you’ve killed her’. Then he took me to the cop shop and they questioned me and were trying to make it look like I made her do it. But I got out of it and she wasn’t dead, just unconscious.

What’s been the worst day job you’ve ever had?
My first job was a dishy. It had its ups and downs but I would have to say working at Austar was the worst. I worked there on the phone to customers and it was so fucked. So many fat people. And they try and make you fat by always bringing around food and shit. I lasted like 3 months – I’ve had so many jobs..

Sex, drugs and groupies – In what order do you prefer them and how often?
Shit my mum is probably gonna read this no comment.

Take us back to the first gig you went to. Where was it and what was the venue?
It was actually The Beautiful Girls at Albert Hall in Broadbeach. But they were supported by the Goons of Doom which was the main reason I was there – it was so fun!

What’s your favourite site to download music from and do you ever pay for it? Can we find any of your releases there?
Lately I have been getting heaps off Stereogum & Gorilla Vs Bear. And no, I don’t think you can find our music on there – I wish.

What’s the furtherest you’d go to win over a new fan?
Shit, I dont know. Sing them happy birthday?

Right, now that you’ve virtually admitted in public that you’re actually not very cool, here’s your chance to plug your upcoming gigs and releases. – go for it.
Haha it’s true I’m not cool. We are doing a few dates over November and December for the release of our EP “Virgintiy”. We are also supporting Wavves and The Soft Pack and Lightspeed over summer so that should be rad – check our myspace for details.

Thanks!!
