Let’s Shake Hands
This was The White Stripes first single, released in March 1998, and marks their first recording. 500 copies of the first edition were printed on clear red vinyl. A second edition of 1000 copies were printed on black vinyl in 2002. A ‘secret’ third edition of 1000 was printed in 2008, and remains one of the rarest and most coveted collectors items.


Fell In Love With A Girl

The White Stripes first single to make an appearance on the Billboard Charts in the USA. The music video is a LEGO animation directed by Michel Gondry. The White Stripes couldn’t strike a deal with LEGO, so they had to buy a large amount of LEGO boxes for the video. When the song became a hit LEGO recontacted the band but they refused to work with the company out of anger.


Seven Nation Army

This track went 76 on the Billboard 100 chart in the States, and marks the first appearance by the band on the Australian ARIA charts shooting to number 17. It also went on to win 2004’s Grammy Award for Best Rock Song., and came 20th in Triple J’s Hottest 100 of All Time in 2009.


The Hardest Button To Button

The White Stripes 2nd song on the ARIA charts in Australia, peaking at 54, was also popular in Ireland and the UK but failed to make the charts in the States. The music video for “The Hardest Button to Button” is the third White Stripes video directed by Michel Gondry and featured pixilation animation to duplicate them on screen.


Blue Orchid

Blue Orchid, the first single of Album ‘Get Behind Me Satan’, was released in 2005 and charted in 9 countries, reaching 95 in Australia, and 43 in USA. The video for “Blue Orchid” was on Yahoo!’s Top Twenty Scariest Music Videos of all Time, charting at number 13. It was rumoured to be about the ending of Jack’s relationship with Renée Zellweger, although he denies such claims.


My Doorbell

My Doorbell was the 2nd single released from ‘Get Behind Me Satan’, and garnered The White Stripes a 2006 Grammy nomination for Best Pop Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocals.


Icky Thump

Icky Thump, released in 2007, is the first single off the sixth and final studio album of the same name by The White Stripes. The song peaked at 26 on the US Billboard charts, marking the bands first Top 40 appearance in the States. It was also appeared in the UK Top 3, and peaked at 46 in Australia. It was the last single to chart in Australia.
