Tone Deaf

Internships

Tone Deaf is one of Australia’s fastest growing music communities and in the short time we’ve been operating we’ve published over 9,000 items. It takes a small but dedicated team to keep all the content on the site flowing and we’re looking for bright young faces who’d like to learn more about publishing, the internet, and the music industry.

We like to keep things pretty casual but there are a few conditions you’ll have to meet to qualify:

  • We’re based in Windsor, Melbourne so you’ll need to live in Melbourne and be able to travel to our office
  • The website runs 24 hours but we do have office hours (10am – 6pm) and you’ll need to available on certain days for those hours
  • You’ll need your own laptop that isn’t a dinosaur (ie. can connect to wifi)
  • You’ll need to have word processing software such as Word, and image editing software such as Photoshop

Furthermore if you can meet some of the following conditions you’ll be bumped to the top of the pile:

  • Experience publishing online (in particular the WordPress platform)
  • Writing skills as well as a firm grasp of the English language
  • Sound understanding of social media (Facebook and Twitter)
  • Passion for music and at least basic knowledge of Australian music
  • Not a douchebag
How it works:
  • You will work one day a week at our office
  • Each week we will have a specifically designed program for you to follow with a list of tasks
  • Tasks include research, creative writing, gig guide maintenance, sub-editing, interviews, and more
  • The internship runs for a total of three months
  • Interns are welcome and encouraged to join as contributors
If you think you’d be a good fit please email intern@tonedeaf.com.au with your CV and any relevant creative work you think may be helpful.
