What They Sound Like: Air Max ’97 describes his own sound as “oblique club trax” another way to describe Air Max’s sound is: structured bass heavy club jams influenced by hip hop production but polished to a metallic shine. If the late, great sci-fi writer Philip K Dick (Blade Runner/ Minority Report/ Total Recall) ran a nightclub, he’d be spinning Air Max ’97.

Why You Should Care: Air Max has recently released his Progress And Memory EP via Liminal Sounds, the third release from the Melbourne based producer.

Having garnered a lot of praise overseas, locals are still a little late to the party. However lucky for us the good people at House Of Mince have booked Air Max to support modern day underground hip hop icon Mykki Blanco this Friday 27th at the Hi Fi Melbourne along with Forces and Lace Curtain (a side project from  Mikey Young and David West of Total Control, Rat Columns, Rank/Xerox, Eddy Current Suppression Ring etc). Check out the Facebook event for more info.

You’ll Love It If You Dig: Kingdom, Jam City, Bok Bok.

Track You Need To Hear: The EP’s title track ‘Progress And Memory’
