MASSIVE are 4 guys on a mission to create some of the loudest ballsiest rock n roll around. Influenced by GnR, ACDC, Led Zeppelin, they are young determined and ready to kick ass! MASSIVE is not just a name. It defines everything this band is about. It is high intensity, in your face rock. The live show hits you hard and leaves you begging for more.

Having signed a deal with Third Verse, the band have released their debut album “Full Throttle” and jetted around Australia on a national tour to promote it. Massive are also the support for the upcoming Glenn Hughes tour, and then the Lita Ford tour in May. Their next headline show is May 18 at the Bendigo Hotel in Collingwood.

Tell us where the band name Massive comes from?

The name came along when guitarist Ben Laguda was moving house and he found a giant banner that said MASSIVE, simply put we chose that name so we didnt have to get a new banner made. haha

What’s your earliest memory of performing and who inspired you to start?

Brad – I owned a ukelele when I was 5, I used to pluck the string and use the tuning peg to change the tone. My first performance was an acoustic cafe night when I was 15. I can’t think of any one band or person who inspired me, I just knew from as early as I can remember I wanted to play music.

What are you favourite Australian venues to play in and why?

Having a chance to play at the Palace (old Metro) and the palais have been highlights so far. Nothing beats a packed, sweaty Espy Front bar just for the vibe. Same vibe applies for the Beer Garden in Surfers Paradise. The Rosemount in WA is wicked because the bar staff hold your legs steady while you climb on their bar to do a guitar solo. Thats rock n roll right there!

What’s on heavy rotation on your iPod right now?

  • The Answer
  • Black Country Communion
  • Buckcherry
  • Led Zep

How do you find new music?

Nothing better than going down to Cherry or Espy and watching a bunch of bands you have never heard of and finding a gem. Of course the net makes obscure bands more accessable. Rock N Roll is a lot of word of mouth, having a drunken chat with someone at the pub will always lead back to music.

If you could curate your own festival, where would it be, who would be on the bill, how many people would you let in and what features would it have?

Not sure where it would be but it would have to be somewhere with a lot of space, it would simply be called “The Festival”

Heres the first announcement:

Main stage – Led Zeppelin, The Rolling Stones, ACDC, Guns and Roses (original line up), KISS, Motorhead, Deep Purple.

Side stage – Insert whoever you want here, no one will be leaving the main stage!

If you request anything on rider for your upcoming tour with Glenn Hughes what would you request on it? Don’t be shy. We want specifics!

3 tubs of butter, a small cat, 2 dozen rugs, a plank of wood, an ice statue in the shape of a plank of wood, a midget named Todd, a bucket of fish heads, plectrum with Al Gore’s face on it, a jar of love, a hand written letter, a deck of cards with all the red ones taken out, a lightglobe, a blood sample, a train timetable from 1982 and last but not least a bunch of hammers. Specific enough?

If you choose anyone living Australian artist to collaborate with who would it be? T

I Guess Gotye, America seems to love him at the moment, completely different sound, but the man makes anything work, imagine high energy rock n roll of MASSIVE meets the quirkiness and catchyness of Gotye, we would take over the world!

What is your band’s music the best soundtrack for?

Life.

Why should we come see Massive supporting Glenn Hughes?

Well Glenn Hughes for starters is a legend, but we also bring something to the table, a fresh take on rock n roll. A lot of bands these days are just a carbon copy of the 70s and 80s. That an explosive high energy eccentric stage show that will make you sweat!

Catch Massive opening for Glenn Hughes on at the following shows: Monday April @ The Corner Hotel, Melbourne & Thursday 25th April @The Basement, Sydney.
