Perth locals Saviour have just released their sophomore album First Light To My Death Bed via UNFD. Following on from their debut Once We Were Lions the six-piece have made a name for themselves on the hard core scene for their energetic and angst driven style that combines the heaviness of Parkway Drive with the unharnessed emotion of Carpathian and the dark melodic sensibilities of The Ghost Inside.

The band are currently on a national tour launching their album with support from For All Eternity and Anchored.

Can you remember the first time you picked up and instrument or sang? If so what was it and what did you want to learn to play or sing?

As a kid! Messing around on my parents instruments and singing along to Michael Jackson records

You guys recently signed to UNFD and released ‘First Light To My Death Bed’, how much as this signing changed where Saviour are now at as a band?

UNFD has been a big help getting us out to the public! They have definitely helped us grow and got us on the right track

What was the influence behind your album artwork? It’s rather beautiful but a little bit dark…

Credit to mike Dann and his work. We gave him our album concept and let him go nuts with it. Nailed it!

What is your most memorable moment from being in the studio recording ‘First Light To My Death Bed’?

Recording a track at the wrong tempo and having to record it all over again haha

You were recently lucky enough to tour national with Northlane, what was your highlight from that tour?

We went on tour with our mates northlane the other month. The daily cricket matches had to be the highlight! The shows weren’t too bad either haha

What’s going on in the hardcore scene or the music scene in general currently? What up and coming bands should we be checking out?

Many sub genres of hardcore these days ! Aussie bands these days are killing it. Tap into the underground Aussie scene and you will find your new favourite band somewhere!

How do you find new music?

Good question!! YouTube/ friends suggestions would be the main

Do you have any particular ritual before you go on stage?

Warm up, toilet, group huddle!

If you could curate your own festival, where would it be, who would be on the bill, how many people would you let in and what features would it have (attractions/food/bars etc)?

Somewhere is qld cause the weather rules! All my idols like slipknot, korn, linkin park, the bizkit, etc. and as many people as possible!! Steamed dim sums…. Definitely needs steamed dimmies!

If you could work with any producer in the world who would you choose and why?

Nodstrom who Mix n mastered our last one! Putneys work these days is insane as well !

What is your band’s music the best soundtrack for?

Family gatherings haha

Lastly, what’s in store for the rest of this year and going into 2014?
