Recovery, the seminal ABC Saturday morning music program, is celebrating its 20th anniversary. That’s 20 years since Dylan Lewis and Jane Gazzo introduced us to bands like Silverchair, Green Day, Powderfinger, and Regurgitator.

As well as a whole lot of reminiscing, the good folks at the ABC have put together a very impressive Recovery CD/DVD box set featuring 100 of the show’s most memorable performances.

The set, which came out last week, features iconic appearances from the likes of Powderfinger, Grinspoon, Silverchair, Nick Cave, Paul Kelly, Something For Kate, Midnight Oil, Frenzal Rhomb, Custard, Natalie Imbruglia, and more.

Some of these beloved Aussie artists have even taken to Facebook and other channels to share their Recovery memories, including Frenzal Rhomb, who penned a loving and characteristically self-deprecating tribute.

“I know we all look very young, but we’ve actually been a band for a very long time,” they wrote. “And back in the 90s there was a music tv show called Recovery hosted by a very professional and never-f***ed-with-at-all host named Dylan.”

“We got to play on Recovery heaps and heaps of times, but also a whole bunch of heaps better bands did too, and now the ABC have put out a special 20th anniversary CD and DVD that you can get and relive (or live for the first time) all those horrible early mornings and horrible costume choices.”
