The New South Wales Police Commissioner has launched legal proceedings to prevent Keep Sydney Open from hosting a rally in Kings Cross this Saturday night, January 21.

The protest march was announced earlier this week, and is due to include a DJ set by Sydney dance legends Flight Facilities, who themselves got started on the dancefloors of the Cross.

According to Keep Sydney Open’s Facebook statement, the Crown received notice of the rally 11 days ago, on Monday January 9, but the legal action was only launched at 4pm yesterday, Thursday January 19.

These developments follow NSW Premier Mike Baird’s shock announcement of his resignation yesterday, in news that was met with a mix of joy and disdain by anti-lockout campaigners.
