The Priory Dolls are coming down to earth in a haze of purple psychedelic smoke this Friday 27th August as they make their highly anticipated return to the stage after being bunkered down in the recording studio. Invoking the swirling psychedelia of The Dandy Warhols and The Stone Roses, this band of pretty boys are an epic experience of kaleidoscopic rock n’ roll bliss. Joining them for the night of simmering aural trips are the chiming gospel tinged folk rock melodrama of The Hello Morning and ska tinged good time of The Madness Method. All Deaf Sessions gigs are recorded live and available to download on www.tonedeaf.com.au the following week. Doors open at 8pm and with Deaf Sessions gigs generally selling out, get down early to ensure you get in.

There’s an epic sound building in AC/DC Lane this weekend as the Deaf Sessions present another huge night of rock n’ roll on the Cherry stage. Bringing you massive choruses by the choir load, we’re getting our lighters out for a massive singalong. Headlining a night of epic pop is the grandiose folk infused rock n’ roll epiphany of the Dancing Heals as they begin to capitalise on a real buzz in the music scene around their Arcade Fire meets Echo & The Bunnymen orchestral swoon. Joining them are the similarly epic thunderous pop of Royston Vasie and the fairytale yearning rock dreamscapes of The Buegs.

Recorded live and available on www.tonedeaf.com.au, the Deaf Sessions at Cherry regularly sell out, so get down early from 8pm to ensure your place up the front. Entry is just $12.

Over the last few months, Buried Feather have begun scratching a name for themselves among Melbourne’s current crop of psych bands. With their dark, hypnotic groove drawing comparison to both the drone’n’roll of the Black Angels and the wah-heavy sludge of Dead Meadow, the freshly minted four-piece are about to put out a collection of tunes that should have the paisley-shirted kids lifting their beers in appreciation.

Intended as a document of their live sound, the Buried Feather EP was recorded at the band’s rehearsal space with minimal overdubs. On “Magnetize”, reverb-drenched vocals fight for air in a murky mix of fuzzed guitars and swirling organ. The tone is somber – both sonically and lyrically – until a major-chord breakdown allows some sunshine to penetrate the gloom. From there, the tribal drone of “Distant Drums” and the driving guitar freak-out “Fuzz Warr” offer alternative paths to where the band could move in the future.

Buried Feather launch their EP at Cherry Bar on Friday 9th July with support from the Thod and Cordyceps. Prepare for a heavy trip.

This week the Deaf Sessions at Cherry Bar are plugging in the reverb and delay pedals as we apply some sonic pressure and present the much vaunted Three Month Sunset as they commit to vinyl their much anticipated 12” debut release. With a buzz all year that’s grown to a deafening low frequency hum around them, Three Month Sunset are fast becoming scene darlings and with their recent astonishing performance at Tone Deaf’s Black Ryder party, the punters know why. Joining them for a night of frequency defying shoegazey sonic dreamscapes are the fuzzed out MBV meets Spaceman 3 torpor of Iowa, and the much anticipated debut Cherry show for Thieves and Rainbow Connection DJ’s spinning the discs.

Recorded live on the night and available for download the following week at www.tonedeaf.com.au, the Deaf Sessions is an intimate gig and with a line-up like this, it will sell out. With band starting at 9 on the dot, and entry just $12, get down early to give your earplugs the biggest workout they’ve had this year.

Alright, don your best double denim, put on your best cowboy boots and belt buckle because the time is nigh for a night of classic hard rock at Cherry as Melbourne’s knights of arse kicking riffage, Wikked Bliss, launch their long awaited new EP Sex, Love and Fire at their rock n’ roll headquarters, Cherry Bar. Joining them for a night of hot loving and even sweatier fist pumping are Bendigo’s Black Aces, strutting their sexx panther prowl up the Calder and right down AC/DC Lane with their spine tingling leather clad jive. Topping it off are Cherry Bar’s resident rock vixens, the all girl line-up of Bunny Monroe. Hailed as the sexiest band in Melbourne by none other than MMM’s brekkie show, these girls have got what every guy wants – the ultimate chicks with riffs.

Recorded live on the night and available for download the following week at www.tonedeaf.com.au, Cherry can only fit a fixed number of rock n’ roll studs and vixens, so get down early to get your spot in front of the stage.

In our ongoing quest to go deaf for a living, Tone Deaf presents yet another stellar instalment of rock n’ roll at Cherry Bar this Friday 14th of May. This week we’ve got the horn baby, as we get all hornosexual and bust out the big bands for your drinking and listening pleasure. Headlining the stage at rock n’ roll central is the Arcade Fire meets Architecture In Helsinki big band vibe of The Good China doling out the brassy pop hooks. They’ll be joined by the B-52s meets Midnight Juggernaughts quirky electronic rockabilly of The JSBs, while opening up the night it’s time to get all ska with the Madness Method. Chuck in Tone Deaf DJs and one of the coolest venues in town and you’ve got one ripsnorter of a night on your hands, which will be recorded live and available on Tone Deaf the following week.

Now we don’t want to keep harping on about this but Tone Deaf events are selling out every week – you know the drill – with doors opening at 8pm and entry only $12 get down early to ensure you get in.

On Friday 9th April Shaman Son are back in town and ready to twist your scrotum that little bit tighter than your girlfriend does with the pounding sludge rock Mudhoney and Kyuss bequeathed to the world.

Supporting will be Sydney freak kids Zeahorse who have finished their rock n’ roll apprenticeship playing with Them Crooked Vultures and swoop down to Melbourne to launch their Rattus Rattus EP, spewing forth chunks of primordial Gun Club meets Fugazi ooze.
Opening things up like a soothing application of skin cream on a bad dose of the clap is the dream syndication of The Ovals with their Tangerine Dream dry humps Can blissadelic space scapes.

Recorded live and available the following week on www.tonedeaf.com.au, don’t miss out on your can of rock n’ roll Campbells soup. Doors open at 8pm, first band on at 9pm – don’t turn up at 11pm and whinge to us that you can’t get in because we don’t like to make people queue.

Close your eyes. Imagine if Nick Cave and Pete Doherty had an illegitimate love child. Wouldn’t that be a thing of pure and absolute beauty? The resulting spawn could be mistaken for the Priory Dolls. With praise from just about everyone who witnesses their performances or listens to their music, including Ricky Maymi from The Brian Jonestown Massacre, they are a very promising band with a hell of a sound. Beginning the recording of their debut album in June, this will be one of the few chances to see them live before they hibernate for winter music making.

Fresh off the boat (for the second time), Carnation are sure to delight your senses with not only their psychedelic resonance, but also their amazing light show and stage presence. A band that loves their live shows, they are sure to make your earbuds orgasm and blow your tiny little mind.

The entire gig will be recorded live, so don’t miss your chance to shout out your love for your mother between songs and then listen to it published on the Internet later.
Supported by newcomers Memory, this is a gig that should be a cultural crime to miss. Come down to Cherry Bar on Friday March the 26th for Deaf Sessions presented by Tone Deaf. The only regret you will have is if you have to wait in line, so get there when the doors open at 830pm.
