Tone Deaf Present: Hard working Bayside lads, The Complimentary Headsets, who are set to release their second EP in under a year which includes their delicious summer single “Now We Are Young” and is set for release digitally on Australia Day. To celebrate the physical release of the EP, The Complimentary Headsets, plan to throw a hootenanny like no other at at Revolver Upstairs on Friday 24th February, with good friends The Kalaharis & The In Betweeners who will be along for the ride. Tone Deaf launched their 2012 Bowled Over Summer Series with a sold out party to celebrate Triple J’s Hottest 100 Countdown on Australia Day at the iconic St Kilda Bowls Club.

Come and escape the St Kilda Festival crowd on Sunday 12th February when Tone Deaf offer you the second installment in their Trilogy of Summer Series, offering you a little Paradise in the sun featuring some of Melbourne’s best up and coming bands and DJs, more cheap beers and ciders, more tasty BBQ delights & some more of the hugely popular barefoot bowling sponsored Converse giving you the chance to win some Chuck Taylors and other goodies…

Bowled Over – The St Kilda Festival Edition will bring you Melbourne’s busiest Indie kids Loon Lake who have been up and down the east coast playing shows with Faker, The Grates, Pyramid, Big Day Out, Cage The Elephant & Girls. Joining them are Garage rockers Money For Rope who’s current single ‘Ten Times’ has just been added to rotation on Triple J, St Kilda underground blues punk outfit Bitter Sweet Kicks and sultry hard rocking Mary of The Moon.

After a sold out debut event at the St Kilda Bowls Club back in February 2011, Tone Deaf will return to the iconic venue early in 2012 with the first of their Summer Series – Bowled Over.

This series will be your little Oasis this summer offering you laid back afternoons with eclectic mixes of bands and DJs, a steady supply of cheap beers and ciders, tasty BBQ delights & barefoot bowling competitions giving you the chance to win brand spanking new pairs of Chuck Taylors thanks to Converse.

A night of melodic hardcore awaits Cherry punters in celebration of the warmer months ahead; this is going to be a hot night of musical induced rampages. Kicking off the frenzy will be In Motions. With new management, a digital download of their current EP ‘Distant Horizons’ and a support slot with Dream On Dreamer, these guys have certainly been busy.

Progressive metal five piece, Hallower have a cult following, from every corner of Melbourne, they are determined to play something fresh in the metal scene.

Headliners Emerson will showcase their melodic hardcore/metal by launching their debut EP ‘Skyscrapers’ at Cherry. Thursday 1st December will see them independently release their EP which will be available to buy on the night. Check out their first headline show since supporting House Vs Hurricane.

That’s right folks, Friday 11th November Cherry goers will not only witness one but TWO EP launches!

With the special guest opener being kept top secret (or yet to be decided, you know what musicians are like!) Through The Window will present their debut single ‘Mind of Mirrors’ from their forthcoming EP. The progressive rock trio won the 2010 Melbourne Fresh showcase, in which they won two days of recording at Basin Studios.

Holding their hands with nervous vitality headliners Kids Without Bikes bring you their indie ska ensemble. To close their first ever national tour and Kids without Bikes present “Violent Lies and Bleeding Lips” their debut EP hot off the EP pressing machine.

Plus opening the bill are indie rockers and Triple J darlings Cold Hiker – check these dudes out.

These fast paced, pop-melody makers Without Wolves, won’t be a band that you watch from afar with your arms crossed, they’ll have you dancing from the moment you walk in. The Mornington Peninsula boys will have you jiving to the likes of ‘Say No! To Disco’ and ‘Night Life Circus’.

Carrying on the party vibes once again, Money For Rope will be hot on your heels with their brand of surf/garage rock. Since releasing their third 7” Vinyl ‘I’ve Had Days’ at a sold out single launch at The Tote, Money For Rope won’t let you escape their live shows without giving you a punch to the rib cage, a slap to the face and at least one 7” in hand!

‘Monsters’ is the brand new single from FANGS, hard working rock outfit who have toured with the likes of The Meanies, Gyroscope and Them Crooked Vultures (USA) just to name a few. Recorded at Birdland Studios and released through Munted Records, ‘Monsters’ is well and truly ready to be launched into the musical stratosphere. Tone Deaf have made the huge leap into the “terrible twos” and we are throwing a huge party at The Espy to celebrate! Yeeeeow!

Our favourite bands from every capital city are flying in (except Perth, they’re washing their hair that day) to celebrate with us and go head to head in a CLASH OF THE CAPITALS!

Which band will play the best set? Which state will make it the best birthday party ever? Who will drink all the Melbourne cans??

Queensland’s Bleeding Knees Club shoulder in next to The Laurels and Sativa Sun from Sydney Town; Lady Strangelove and Tea are flying in from Radelaide and Tone Deaf’s pick of Melbourne’s roster will include Money For Rope, Frowning Clouds, Demon Parade and Baptism Of Uzi.

We’re loading three rooms with over 15 acts – entry will be on the house as a special birthday treat for you guys – and there’s still more artists to be announced!

The Good China

Where have The Good China been? The Melbourne eight-piece collective, influenced by and drawing comparison with Architecture In Helskinki, Broken Social Scene and The Arcade Fire, danced into life with an interchanging, multi-instrumentalist lineup creating indie pop music soon labeled as “unbridled pop folk perfection” and more simply “breathtaking” […And Pluck Your Strings].

Their 2009 EP Old Maps/New Music, produced by Steve Schram [Little Birdy, The Cat Empire, Eagle And The Worm] promised great things and then they went quiet.

Tone Deaf “Deaf Sessions” are wrapt to be the ones bringing them back to the stage in a delirious live-recorded event. The Good China return in an anticipated show at Cherry Bar supported by growling dirt-rockers The Harlots and Cherry virgins, bright-eyed indie champs Attck.

Black Cab

Friday 7th October will see psych pop explorers Black Cab controlling all the movement over the dance floor for what will be a fully analogue show.

Taking us back, Black Cab’s sound resonate late 60’s, early 70’s German dance music. With the success of their 2009 album ‘Call Signs’ released through Sydney Label Outlaw, Black Cab were nominated for an Australian Music Prize.

Having heavily toured central Europe, Black Cab is renowned for their distinct East Berlin beats. Whilst currently working in the studio on their fourth album set to be released later in the year, to keep our dance moves in check they have released the EP, ‘Combat Boots’.

Supporting Black Cab will be Melbourne space cadets, The Ovals. Bringing back their version of psychedelic Krautrock, The Ovals are sure to create something as visual stimulating as the last meteor shower you saw!

So swap your ‘No’ for ‘Nine’ and your ‘Yeah’ for…well ‘Yahh’ and make it to Cherry Bar to check out these incredibly good bands.

For one night only we’ve assembled the most ghoulish group of Melbourne’s bands to play the biggest rock ‘n’ roll Halloween party this city has ever seen!

NIGHT CREATURES: ‘A SUPERNATURAL SPRING BREAK’ will be held Friday 28th October at the favourable St Kilda haunt, the Prince Band room with special guests Red Ink to headline the night.

Now dubbed the unofficial start to the Halloween break, make sure your gruesomely gouged feet are a’ stompin’ with Cold Hiker kicking of the night, followed closely by Without Wolves, Young Maverick and The New Eileens.

To get you geared up for Red Ink, local institution The Priory Dolls will fill you up with a heavy dose of rock ‘n’ roll lifted from their debut album ‘Suddenly, At The Priory’, previously being described as possessing a sound that resembles ‘…a thousand bears fighting a thousand robots’ The Priory Dolls are sure send you into a zombie frenzy.

Setting the night of fire, Melbourne indie rock outfit Red Ink are sure to raise the hairs on the back of your neck with their iconic brand of ‘rock visual’. The boys have been busy touring, so to welcome them back home, show us your bloody wounds at ‘NIGHT CREATURES: ‘A SUPERNATURAL SPRING BREAK’

Hosted by Tone Deaf Presents the night will be a mirage of zombie brides, hopeful uni graduates and spooky beach party lifesavers.
