It’s all thrills, spills and a howling good time as the electrical storm that is the mighty Skybombers swoop down AC/DC Lane for a rock n’ roll dogfight which will no doubt lead to a few perforated eardrums and twisted shards of metal the next day if we correctly remember last time they played! Having spent the winter in hibernation they’re reading to pull on the boots and kick some action into spring with a night of ball tearing action at the Deaf Sessions at Cherry Bar. Joined by fellow balls out rock pigs Kingswood who are keeping the Tone Deaf A&R scouts busy fielding calls and the jungle swamp rock of Damn Terran and this night will have you nailing your fingers to your ears to keep the bleeding in. All recorded live and available to download from Tone Deaf, the headline band is on at 11pm sharp and you’d best be getting down early to ensure that you can get in.

Bust out your finest threads and pointiest books as Tone Deaf kicks off another huge night of partying with the barnstorming swagger of The Checks, one of New Zealand’s biggest indie bands. Clocking up NZ tours with Oasis, Muse, AC/DC, The Hives and The Killers, the band are coming across to the West Island to launch their second album, Alice By The Moon. Trading explosive bluesy rock riffs reminiscent of their fellow countrymen The Datsuns, they’re going to be drenching the Ding Dong stage in sweat in their only Melbourne show.

Joining them for the night are the space rock squall of the narco-rock juggernaught of local poster boys The Demon Parade, taking a night out from their massive Australian tour, and the rock n’ roll pig skulduggery of Johnny Rock and the Limits. Warming things up with the scuzzed out howl of Fathoms and the epic rock hammer of The Villains Lair and this night is gonna make one of those Spring Break movies look like a garden tea party.

As well as being the official unofficial after party for The Klaxons, we’ve $10 jugs to get you loose before 10pm, and DJ Falco from Germany and the sexy Tone Deaf DJ crew breaking bones on the wheels of steel until the wee hours. Get your tickets now at www.dingdong.oztix.com.au

The Priory Dolls are coming down to earth in a haze of purple psychedelic smoke this Friday 27th August as they make their highly anticipated return to the stage after being bunkered down in the recording studio. Invoking the swirling psychedelia of The Dandy Warhols and The Stone Roses, this band of pretty boys are an epic experience of kaleidoscopic rock n’ roll bliss. Joining them for the night of simmering aural trips are the chiming gospel tinged folk rock melodrama of The Hello Morning and ska tinged good time of The Madness Method. All Deaf Sessions gigs are recorded live and available to download on www.tonedeaf.com.au the following week. Doors open at 8pm and with Deaf Sessions gigs generally selling out, get down early to ensure you get in.

Tone Deaf gigs are the preferred ‘night off’ choice for touring bands and this Saturday 14th August we’re thrilled to welcome Sydney’s all conquering The Art as they take time out from their national tour with 30 Seconds To Mars and Black Rebel Motorcycle Club to play a one off intimate club show in the hot and sweaty confines of Melbourne’s rock n’ roll central, Ding Dong Lounge.

Since going to America as The Follow and returning to Australia as The Art last year, the band have been busting their chops playing with a who’s who of international bands – from Marilyn Manson to Them Crooked Vultures – serving up a triple dose of effervescent rock n’ roll howling.

Joining them for a massive night will be Tone Deaf’s exciting discoveries Kingswood, who you’d swear had Bon Scott reincarnated out front with his primal wail. Adding extra tang to the toppings on this rock n’ roll pizza are the existential power pop of Wilfed Jackal, Brisvegas’ rolling thunder revue with The Cairos and making their leap on to the big stage, the shimmering horizons of The Promised Land.

Kicking off a another night of the sweat dripping off the ceiling with $10 party starter jugs and the Tone Deaf DJ crew throwing shapes on, behind and in front of the DJ booth, we’re going to keep your feet going until you scream out no more!

There’s an epic sound building in AC/DC Lane this weekend as the Deaf Sessions present another huge night of rock n’ roll on the Cherry stage. Bringing you massive choruses by the choir load, we’re getting our lighters out for a massive singalong. Headlining a night of epic pop is the grandiose folk infused rock n’ roll epiphany of the Dancing Heals as they begin to capitalise on a real buzz in the music scene around their Arcade Fire meets Echo & The Bunnymen orchestral swoon. Joining them are the similarly epic thunderous pop of Royston Vasie and the fairytale yearning rock dreamscapes of The Buegs.

Recorded live and available on www.tonedeaf.com.au, the Deaf Sessions at Cherry regularly sell out, so get down early from 8pm to ensure your place up the front. Entry is just $12.

Phew! The dirty boys in the Tone Deaf party crew are scrubbing themselves up and putting on their best party threads because one of Sydney’s hottest and most acclaimed bands are hitting up Ding Dong this Saturday 31st July to give Melbourne’s boys a lesson in how to play some of the most adventurous and seductive rock n’ roll you’ll witness all year. Bridezilla’s all girl line up (plus token boy) play some of the most mesmerising jazz-folk-pop noir this side of Surry Hills.

Joining them on a massive bill are the dark country thunder of Eagle & The Worm, the yearning West Coast folk pop of Jimmy Hawk, and the epic indie rock of San Fran Disco. Buttering us up for the night is the power pop punk attitude of Modular Lounge and the sonic dreamscapes of Borders.

Kicking the fun off with party starter $10 jugs before 10pm and the usual white knuckle thrill of the Tone Deaf DJ crew on the decks playing indie alternative psychedelic rock and garage pop anthems till the wee hours and if this isn’t shaping up to be a huge night by our usual ridiculous shenanigans then you need some new friends to hang out with.

Over the last few months, Buried Feather have begun scratching a name for themselves among Melbourne’s current crop of psych bands. With their dark, hypnotic groove drawing comparison to both the drone’n’roll of the Black Angels and the wah-heavy sludge of Dead Meadow, the freshly minted four-piece are about to put out a collection of tunes that should have the paisley-shirted kids lifting their beers in appreciation.

Intended as a document of their live sound, the Buried Feather EP was recorded at the band’s rehearsal space with minimal overdubs. On “Magnetize”, reverb-drenched vocals fight for air in a murky mix of fuzzed guitars and swirling organ. The tone is somber – both sonically and lyrically – until a major-chord breakdown allows some sunshine to penetrate the gloom. From there, the tribal drone of “Distant Drums” and the driving guitar freak-out “Fuzz Warr” offer alternative paths to where the band could move in the future.

Buried Feather launch their EP at Cherry Bar on Friday 9th July with support from the Thod and Cordyceps. Prepare for a heavy trip.
