We have the exclusive first listen to ‘Changing The Timeline’ the new single from Sydney four-piece The Laurels.

Taken from the band’s forthcoming debut album Plains, ‘Changing The Timeline’ is a powerful sucker punch that wails, drones and soars as it shows another side to the band dubbed “Sydney’s premier purveyors of atmospheric shoegaze” (Time Out Sydney).

Having recently toured the country with Pond and following shows with likes of The Black Angels, Wooden Shjips, Swervedriver, Low and Tame Impala,

The Laurels have developed a solid reputation as one of the country’s best live bands. But whilst notoriety as a floppy haired sonic assault machine is flattering, there’s a lot more to the band than that, and Plains sees The Laurels reveal what has long been shielded behind their wall of white noise

Producer Liam Judson (Belles Will Ring, Cloud Control), a long-time friend of the band who helped with the recording of their acclaimed 2011 debut EP Mesozoic, was the man to dismantle The Laurels’ wall of sound brick by brick, and is responsible for the deft production on Changing The Timeline.

Plains will be released on Rice Is Nice on July 13, 2012, but in the meantime wrap your ears around second taster from the up coming album.
