As part of  Triple R 102.7 FM’s Radiothon 2012, we let the wonderful Music Co-ordinator and host of Breaking and Entering, Simon Winkler program our mixtape #34, so make sure you wrap your ears around Simon’s selection of tunes below.

Lost Animal – Buai Raskol

Melbourne’s own Jarrod Quarrell makes music that transports the listener with its’ rich, inventive arrangements and strange, literary lyricism. From the incredible Ex-Tropical album of 2011, here’s Buai Raskol.

Four Tet – Lion

Could it be that London producer Kieran Hebden aka Four Tet was channelling our Radiothon theme when he composed this track for his new album ‘Pink’? Let’s not ask and assume he did. In any case it’s a wild, entrancing trip into the deepest, darkest house and jazz jungles.

 Tame Impala – Elephant

Specialists in raw garage rock and sprawling psychedelic soundscapes, Tame Impala are clearly inspired by the untamed wilds of the world. Their latest single is every bit as impressive and immense as the majestic animal it is named after.

Dawn Penn & Bounty Killer – You Don’t Love Me (Ambient Jungle Mix)

Our ‘Answer The Call’ Radiothon this year is inspired by all things Jungle-related – including of course Jungle breaks straight out of the urban concrete wilds of the 90’s scene. Here’s a favourite jungle remix of on old Dawn Penn classic.

Andras Fox – Cartoon Jungle

Triple R’s very own Andras Fox is another fan of jungle-inspired sounds and created this track in celebration of nature.

Martin Denny – Jungle Madness

A mysterious and entrancing composition from one of the masters of exotica music. Taking imaginative sonic cues from the animal kingdom, the song captures much of the excitement of this fun-filled time of the year for Triple R!
