Kingswood & Calling All Cars have announced they’re teaming up for an Australian tour.

The Life’s A Beach Tour 2014 will rolling into a salty destination near you soon with two of Australia’s hottest rock n roll bands playing in the best beachy beer barns our wide flat brown land has to offer in a long, loud hot summer night to remember.

Excited to be home after a stint in the US, Kingswood head straight back on the road with new single ‘Sucker Punch’ in hand. Flying in from a studio in Nashville, the gritty indie rock four piece from Melbourne have been finishing off their long awaited debut LP. Recorded with esteemed producer Vance Powell (Jack White, Arctic Monkeys, Kings of Leon) the album is set for release in early 2014.

This will be your last chance to see Kingswood in smaller, louder venues before they head out on the national Big Day Out tour through January and February.

To celebrate the upcoming ‘Life’s A Beach’ tour, the boys from the band have programmed a mixtape of their favourite beachy tunes! Check it out.

Neil Young -‘Walk On’

Easily the best album with the word Beach in the title. Possibly one of the greatest 1st tracks on any Neil Young album as well. Such a good guitar riff and a great pre chorus/ chorus combo.

The Beach Boys – ‘Sloop John B’

My Favourite off Pet Sounds this song oozes beach and summer vibes.  An awesome arrangement and awesome harmonies.

Paul Kelly & The Boon Companions – ‘Gunnamatta’

Technically this song doesn’t have beach in the band name. album title or song title in keeping with this theme, but a cracking tune about a beach we all know and love. The duelling guitars of the two Dan’s (Kelly & Luscombe) over the constant groove really reminds me of an uncrowded Gunnamatta on a spring morning, before the song takes us to the darker element of Gunnamatta’s outfall during the 2nd motif or chorus.

Jay-Z – ‘Beach Chair’

Not a classic Jay-Z track here but it is quite deep lyrical and has an infectious industrial sounding beat that drives the song along nicely. Urban Beach with a bit of Chris Martin for the better or worse.

Gorillaz – ‘Broken’

Great track of the last Gorillaz album. Possibly the beachiest track on the album. So many great parts in this track.

The Go-Go’s – ‘Beatnik Beach’

America’s favourite all girl rockers here with there classic track Beatnik Beach. Not much to say about this one, but the list needed some more women.

Classixx – ‘A Fax From The Beach’

I don’t know much about this track or how it managed to work its way in to iTunes library. The kind of ambient electro track you would hear a European Byron Bay “Local” blasting on the foreshore whilst fire twirling or juggling and talking about how they found themselves spiritually in Byron Bay.

Beach House – ’10 Mile Stereo’

A beautifully euphoric track with an awesome build throughout. The strings in this song are quite delightful and it actually has quite a beachy atmosphere.

Nick Cave & Warren Ellis – ‘The Beach’

A nice little closer here from two legends. This composition is from the film score for “The Road”. A beautifully composed song with eerily desolate overtones that reminds me of a cold, yet calm day on a Victorian beach.
