Melbourne trio Calling All Cars drop their third record, Raise The Alarm, today and what better way to celebrate the release than relocating to the UK and listening to a mix that’ll get them there.

That’s right, the band’s Pledge Music campaign to relocate them to the UK reached 99% of its goal on the same day as their album’s release.

As the Aussie rockers hit up the UK and even on their extensive forthcoming national tour (dates below) the three-piece will have plenty of time to chew the fat over what tracks are best for making those long days on the road breeze by.

Frontman Hadyn Ing sat down and put together his essential road trip mix for us and as you can see there’s a mixed bag of classic to modern day rock and indie and a dash of hip-hop thrown in for good measure.

Whether his bandmates in James Ing and Adam Montgomery agree on his selection is up for debate, but have a listen and see if you’d hail down Calling All Cars to hitch a ride.

Kanye West – Black Skinhead

This is a great, dirty, gritty song that pumps us up. Whether it be on the road, tapping along on the steering wheel. Or right before a show to get us in the mood. Just a rad song with awesome production.”

The Rolling Stones – Start Me Up

“This song is a guaranteed pick-me-up. I think it’s because it brings back a lot of good memories (for most people). Whenever there’s a dull moment in the tour van, just pop this baby on.”

Arctic Monkeys – Arabella

“Great driving song. Listening to this song just reminds me of driving fast with the window down and the sun shining. Cool new video clip too.”

The Black Keys – Everlasting Light

“This is the song to pop on first thing in the morning. When heads are a little heavy from the ‘one too many’ beers the night before, it’s a perfect way to ease into the day ahead.”

Cage The Elephant – Telescope

“This is a song I like to put on when I’m driving and the other boys are asleep in the back of the van. Has a real sweet melody, and takes me to “another place” to “reflect”.. Haha. How can you say that without it sounding like a giant cheese wheel?”

The Dead Weather – Treat Me Like Your Mother

“A great head bobbing song with a lot of rhythm and attitude. Just oozing cool. Need I say more?”

Grouplove – Borderlines And Aliens

“I saw these guys play at Big Day Out recently, and they blew me away. Since then, they have made regular appearances in my playlists. This song in particular because of the awesome riff!”

Talking Heads – Take Me To The River

“When everyone (else) is sick of listening to music and just wants some silence in the tour van, you can throw this song on, and it will calm everyone down and stop the complaints *not always guaranteed to work*.”

Royal Blood – Out Of The Black

“When everyone’s ready to listen to something really loud, this song is perfect. We’re loving this tune at the moment. Also, Adam got a new phone, and it was (for some reason) the only song he had on there for a good month. I think he’s figured out how to add more songs now. He’s up to 2.”

Queens Of The Stone Age

“No matter where we’re going, when it is, what mood we’re in… QOTSA always seem to make an appearance. And this song is just fucking awesome. Enough said.”
