Gorillaz Apologise for Glastonbury Show

Damon Albarn has apologised to Gorillaz fans for their Glastonbury show, because he felt it lacked human interaction. After the set, there were criticisms of the lack of banter and the slowness of the songs.
The set included guest appearances by Lou Reed, Mark E. Smith and Bobby Womack; however it seemed that wasn’t enough to meet the high expectations of the Glasto crowd. This comes as no real surprise, since Gorrilaz were a last minute replacement for U2, and the previous year Albarn had reformed Blur for what turned out to be an emotional and crowd-pleasing show.
Albarn has put the disappointment down to a lack of interaction with the audience.
He told BBC newsbeat “[At Glastonbury] we were yet to change the dynamic entirely from the cartoon band acting purely as a film orchestra into something that had more of a human element to it.” Replacing U2 was a big ask, but it could have been worse…at least there were no pigeons.

I love the Gorillaz and just to be there at Glastonbury was amazing, I thought it was a fantastic show… I am aware the majority of the crowd was let down, however I certainly wasn't! To see Damon Albarm perform has made my year!
