You have to feel kind of bad for Nickelback, being constantly attacked in the media is hard enough but when it comes from your artist brethren it must cut a little deeper. Especially coming from a band as cool as The Black Keys. But proving they’re good sports Nickelback have taken the latest attack to come their way in their stride.

Yesterday we reported that the Black Keys had blamed the deterioration of rock n roll squarely on Nickelback saying “Rock & roll is dying because people became OK with Nickelback being the biggest band in the world. So they became OK with the idea that the biggest rock band in the world is always going to be shit – therefore you should never try to be the biggest rock band in the world. Fuck that!”

Drummer Patrick Carney continued “Rock & roll is the music I feel the most passionately about, and I don’t like to see it fucking ruined and spoon-fed down our throats in this watered-down, post-grunge crap, horrendous shit. When people start lumping us into that kind of shit, it’s like, ‘Fuck you,’ honestly.”

The band could have seen Carney’s comments in a negative fashion but instead have picked up on something he said and turned his statements into a positive, posting on their Twitter account:

The band were also victims of an online campaign to have them booted off as half-time entertainment at a football game in Detroit.  The petition garnered over 55,000 signatures but the band nonetheless pressed ahead with the performance and in a total fuck you to their haters decided to play the gig for free for charity.

Again proving they have a sense of humour they even responded to the petition by appearing in a spoof video for Funny Or Die. In the video, Nickelback are seen in their record companies office brainstorming ideas that will make them more appealing to the people of Detroit.

But we still don’t advise to listen to the band if you ever want to have sex.
