You’ve got to love the phenomenon that is the industry circle jerk known often by their more common name: award ceremonies. When else do we get to see our favourite musicians get up on stage blind drunk and making a fool of themselves? Hmm. Scratch that, when else do we get to see all of our favourite musicians making fools of themselves together? That’s better.

From Kanye West’s infamous stage invasion during Taylor Swift’s speech, to the heated war of words between Lily Allen and Elton John, and Muse frontman Matt Bellamy’s hilarious ramblings backstage shitfaced; yes, award ceremonies probably are the best things of the planet when they go horribly wrong.

Thankfully more often than not they do go wrong, and today we’ve had not one but two funny stories land on our desks from opposite sides of the globe. First up is Adele, the seemingly unstoppable singing machine who last night won not one but two Brit Awards – first up for British Female Solo Artist and then followed by Album of the Year for her sophomore release 21.

It was for her second award that hilarity ensured as the host was forced to cut her speech off halfway through so that Blur could play live as the telecast had run massively overtime.

“Nothing makes me prouder, yeah, then coming home with six Grammys, then coming to the Brits and winning Album of the Year, I’m so, so proud to be British and to be flying our flag….” she said before being cut off. Pissed off Adele says her quick goodbye and channeling MIA flips the bird to the camera before walking off.

Later backstage Adele was a little more diplomatic saying “I’m sorry if I offended anyone but it was the suits that offended me. Thank you all very much and thanks to my fans. I don’t want them to think I was swearing at them.”

You can watch the clip below.

Following on from Adele’s colourful appearance on stage, comes news about possibly one of the trashiest men on Earth, Poison frontman Bret Michaels – who is suing television station CBS for up to $50 million for embarrassing him when they video from the telecast of the Tony Awards of a set piece literally falling on his head was not edited out.

In his court filing Michaels says that CBS “could have prevented the footage . . . from airing via the standard seven-second broadcast delay” but “the defendants took no such measures — presumably because the incident would lead to greater publicity and ratings for the show.”

Michaels says that beside his injuries, which included a broken nose and brain haemorrhage, he suffered “humiliation when video of the incident immediately spread across the Internet.” You have to feel kind from bad for the guy but the footage is totally hilarious and very much embedded below.
