Lamb Of God Frontman Released On Bail

Last Friday we reported on the arrest of Randy Blythe, vocalist for US metal band Lamb of God, over charges of manslaughter.

According to initial reports, the frontman was arrested in Prague over an incident from a Lamb of God performance in the same city two years prior, in which an enthusiastic fan climbed onstage and allegedly got into a physical confrontation with Blythe. The man reportedly suffered injuries which later led to his death, for which the metal singer is being blamed.

We can now follow-up on the status of the case thanks to Blabbermouth who state that Blythe appeared before a Czech court over the weekend. After being arrested at the Prague airport for manslaughter charges last Wednesday (June 27), Blythe was released on 4 million Czech Koruna bail (approximately $US 200,000 – which apparently is the equivalent of the metal singer’s annual income).

Blythe did not speak at his court hearing and was described as being “timid as a lamb”, instead he was represented by two lawyers over accusations that he was the cause of the fatal injury at Lamb Of God’s headline show held on May 24 2010 at Prague’s Abaton club.

The injured fan in question was one Daniel N. [surname withheld], a 19-year-old fan who died fourteen days after the concert following trauma to the head causing excessive bleeding of the brain. Blythe was charged with causing the injuries, and could face up to ten years imprisonment if found guilty.

The singer apparently either pushed or struck a 19-year-old fan named Daniel N. who had come on stage, and that person died 14 days later of bleeding in the brain.

Adrenaline PR, the band’s publicist, released a press statement imploring that:

“Under no circumstances was there a fight of any kind involved [during the concert]. This incident deals with a fan that three times during the concert jumped the barricade and rushed Randy during the performance. It is alleged that the third time, security was not able to reach him and that Randy pushed him back into the audience where supposedly he fell and hit his head.”

Blythe was considered a ‘flight risk’ by the judge and will have to remain in the country for at least 48 hours, but a tweet from Lamb Of God guitarist Mark Morton suggests that Bltyhe’s bail cleared writing “finally HOME! 4/5 of us anyway. I cant wait to give Randy a big bear hug & kiss his pointy, stubbly face!” While the band’s official twitter account simple wrote:

Despite being released on bail, Blythe’s court case isn’t necessarily over. Once again, we’ll report when we have more solid details.
