The speculation was true! Grammy award winning artist Adele will join the list of the honoured musicians before her including Duran Duran, Jack White, Madonna, Tom Jones and Sir Paul McCartney in contributing the theme song to the latest James Bond film, the Sam Mendes-directed Skyfall.

The first previews of the film have been released with Daniel Craig returning as the MI6 agent as well critically acclaimed actor Javier Bardem intruding as an extraordinary evil villain riddled with personal reasons to create problems for Agent 007. The films soundtrack is set to be it’s best yet with English performer Adele’s theme set to rock the film.

From a press release unveiled today, the British singer admitted that she was at first hesitant to contribute to the iconic theme due to the “instant spotlight and pressure when it comes to a Bond song.”

The 21-year-old singer pulled through however, with her piece set to premier on Friday 5th October, at the cheeky time of 0:07 BST according to Consequence Of Sound. The release also marks the 50th anniversary of the 007 franchise after the first 1962 screening of Terence Young’s Dr. No was held in London, while the Skyfall themes song is Adele’s first release since last year’s critical and commercial explosion, 21.

The successful singer-songwriter recorded the track for the forthcoming Bond film Skyfall alongside iconic British music producer Paul Epworth with whom she recorded her breakthrough album, 19.

The track features a 77-piece orchestra who recorded alongside her at London’s most celebrated studio, Abbey Road. If the singer’s multi Grammy-award winning performances are anything to go by the newest instalment to the Bond legacy is set to be the best yet.

The singer’s close friend, Ryan Tedder, frontman of One Republic first tweeted: ”I’ve heard it. Best Bond song in my lifetime. Hands down- hats off once again to Paul Epworth and Adele. hope they win Oscar.”

A 90 second preview of the track leaked online earlier this week, and despite the men in suits behind the film’s best efforts to take it down, it’s cropped up all over the internet.

Adele’s contribution to the film has been described as ”a very soulful, slow song, lacking the rock n’ roll guitar that was featured in both Chris Cornell’s “You Know My Name” and Jack White and Alicia Keys’ “Another Way To Die’” reports film critic website Cinema Blend.

With wide speculation and well deserved respect Adele’s addition to the famously respected franchise is set to pluck the heart strings of its viewers with the newest instalment to the 007 franchise premiering on the 22nd of November.
