Gyroscope Guitarist In Motorcycle Accident, Recovery Could Take Months

Written by Al Newstead on 16 May 2012

Perth rock act Gyroscope were set to play their first hometown show for 2012 in June, announced only a few short weeks ago. Now, the band have been forced to postpone the benefit gig due to a horrific motorcylce accident involving the band’s guiarist and back-up vocalist Zoran Trivic.

According to a press statement issued by the band today, Trivic has sustained two badly broken legs after being struck down by a vehicle while riding his motorcycle last Monday. He is expected to make a full and complete recovery, but it has forced the band to delay all future live commitments while Trivic goes through the necessary recovery period from several operations.

The major commitment affected by Trivic’s injury was Gyroscope’s Benefit For Dana show, a charity gig put together by the band to aid 26-year-old Dana Vulin, who fell victim to a horrendous crime some two months ago in her home hometown of Rivervale, Perth.

Vulin suffered severe burns to 60% of her body following a horrendous premeditated attack by an intruder who broke into her home, doused herbody in methylated spirits and set her alight. The funds raised from the Benefit For Dana concert will go towards Vulin and her family to help assist in the costs of her medical expenses, legal fees and rehabilitation treatment.

Gyroscope are still whole-heartedly behind the cause, but due to Trivic’s own tragic circumstances, have pushed the gig back by several months to Saturday 22nd September. The show will remain with the scheduled venue (The Rosemount Hotel) as well as local support acts The Scotch of St. James and Boston & Chevy, who have kindly agreed to postpone also.

Tickets for the event are still valid, but any punters who wish to seek a refund can do so through OzTix

In the same press statement Gyroscope are also calling out for donations to Valin’s cause.

“In the meantime… to assist Dana. These can be made by visiting any Westpac branch with the account details, or via direct debit to: WESTPAC BANK / BSB 036000 / Account: 939549 / Account name: FOUNDATION FOR DANA VULIN. And snap up your tickets, take the next couple of months to get very excited and witness Zoran’s triumphant return to the stage in support of a very worthy cause.”
