Following the announcement that they’ll be hitting the road as part of the Parklife 2012 lineup, Western Australia’s favourite new psychedelic rock act, Tame Impala, have teased the first details of their highly-anticipated follow-up to Innerspeaker, the Perth act’s 2010 debut.

In a trend that’s beginning to define 2012, Tame Impala have released a trailer for their forthcoming sophomore album. With some acid-fried visuals similar to fellow Parklife headliners, The Presets’ own video teaser for Pacifica, the trailer features rainbow-washed visions of London, kaleidoscopic visuals and collected footage of the band on stage and on the road.

More importantly the video contains an audio clip of a brand new track as its soundtrack, along with a tie-dyed insert at the end for the album title, Lonerism.

Further details are yet to emerge but the group’s record label, Modular are hinting at a Spring release for Tame Impala’s second LP.

Frontman Kevin Parker hinted that recording had begun on Lonerism as early as July 2010, only a couple of months after the release of their debut, telling Triple J at the time, “Jay [Watson, drummer] and I have been recording pretty compulsively and album number two is nearing potential completion already.”

Check out the video below and stay tuned for more updates on the album as they become available.
