This Monday, the crème de la crème of Melbourne’s live music photography scene will be taking over Ding Dong Lounge to display some of their best and brightest work in all its full-scale glory courtesy of Three Songs No Flash.

The rock photography exhibition will see the walls emblazoned with stunning images of artists and bands, ranging from metal gods Metallica and Black Sabbath through to the inimitable Marilyn Manson, iconic Madonna, the grizzly Grinderman, and the visually stunning Garbage.

The photographs come courtesy of some of the city’s best and brightest (many whose names you may recognise amongst the galleries right here on Tone Deaf), artisans such as Scott Boelsen, Jesse Booher, Katie Dutton, Rebecca Houlden, Lou Lou Nutt, Naomi Rahim, John Raptis, Brett Schewitz, Richard Sharman, Anthony Smith, Heidi Takla and Elleni Toumpas, whose photographs will adorn the walls of Ding Dong Lounge.

Between them, all 12 photographers can be seen regularly in the photo pits and venues of Australia, regularly contributing to the top music publications on both a local and international leve. Snapping hundreds upon thousands of live music photographs, their images are captured from the smallest, most intimate shows to some of Australia’s largest music festivals, the exhibition will contain both ends of the spectrum and everything in between with a multitude of international and domestic bands captured.

Like soldiers going into war, live music photographers battle extreme conditions in order to capture moments for the world to see. Dodging bodies flailing through the air; dark, sweaty trenches and thunderous crashes, the results of these photographers’ passion and hard work can be seen on the walls of Ding Dong Lounge from May 20th – 30th 2013.

Doors On Monday 20th open at 7.30pm. More info at dingdonglounge.com.au and you can view some of what to expect below.
