Aussie rockers Calling All Cars drop their brand new studio album today – just as they are on the cusp of getting out of the country for good.

Don’t stress, the Melbourne rock trio aren’t being deported, instead they’re planning to relocate to the UK as part of a crowdfunding campaign to give their career and third album, Raise The People, the international attention it deserves.

On the day their new record is released, the band’s Pledge Music campaign is at 99% of reaching its final goal of getting the trio to London, “by May 2014 to show the UK/european bands how we do Rock n Roll.”

The three-piece – the Ing brothers Haydn and James (on guitar and drums respectively) and bassist Adam Montgomery – have already struck a major chord with rock fans with their Pledge Music campaign, offering a variety of incentives and rewards for pledgers, but gained a $20,000 injection from a Calling All Cars diehard in the last 48 hours.

Adam Dove, a rock über-fan and Dealer Principal at Seymour Toyota, pledged $20k with the purchase of Calling All Cars’ beloved tour van, a late 2007 model Toyota Tarago decked out with a complete back-line of instruments, amps, gear, and a history as a “reliable beast”. “…an opportunity to support Calling All Cars, and hopefully many more bands to come.”

“I’d already pledged a CD & T-shirt to the Calling All Cars Pledge campaign, but when I saw they were selling their tour van, I remembered a conversation I had years ago with Dan from Gyroscope who, when I told him I worked at Seymour Toyota, said that Taragos are the best tour van ever,” says Dove.

Not only is the Toyota dealer fronting serious cash to help get Calling All Cars’ shifted to the UK, he’s intending to continue the Tarago’s road-hewn legacy by hiring it out to musicians in need of a tour-ready vehicle.

“I thought this might be a great way to engage with the music community, and also an opportunity to support Calling All Cars, and hopefully many more bands to come,” says the benevolent pledger.

“We’ll be renting out the van to musicians who are hitting the road so it stays within the music world. Sometimes the car industry gets a bit of a bad wrap. We’re really happy to be able to give something back.”

Needless to say Calling All Cars are stoked with the contribution and the combined efforts of their dedicated fans with a pledge of their own; “We promise you that we will be working our arse off that make it all worthwhile and you can say ‘My pledge helped those guys eat for one more day. They practically owe me their lives’….We do.”

Also helping push the release of Raise The People today, the trio took to Triple J – who have been spinning Calling All Cars radio hits ‘Werewolves’ and ‘Standing In The Ocean’ – for a bout of Like A Version, pulling out a muscular rendition of Talking Heads’ nervy classic, ‘Psycho Killer’ (watch below).

Before jetting to London to make their fortune, Calling All Cars are touring their new record to every corner of Australia as part of a 22-date national tour with a killer hat-trick lineup of rock power trios. Joining Calling All Cars for their extensive trek will be Perth’s award-winning rockers and Triple J Next Crop 2014 pick, The Love Junkies, and post-punk heroes in the making, The Sinking Teeth.
