The sweet gravely sounds of Jimmy Barnes belting out classics such a Khe Sanh is enough to bring a grown man to tears. But tears is how it ended for one fan who got just a little over excited at Cold Chisel’s concert in Townsville after he was removed from the venue by security for dancing too hard.

43-year-old Richard Fuller attended to concert with his daughter on October 18 amongst 4000 other Chisel fans. When the excitement of the whole affair just got a little too much for him he jumped up on his seat and started double fist-pumping according to The Daily Telegraph.

But security took issue with his dance moves and ejected him from the venue where a scuffled ensured between Fuller and one of the guards who he slapped.

“I didn’t think I was annoying anyone and everyone was cheering for me,” Fuller said said. “I was standing up on my chair double fist-pumping, but I didn’t want to block people’s view … that’s why I went into the aisle. I’d been dancing the whole time but they took me out as the band was finishing. I missed the last song.”

“He was having a good time dancing away. He really didn’t do anything wrong,” Fullers daughter said.

Magistrate Ross Mack however disagreed and fined Fuller $450 yesterday for common assault although clearer heads did prevail as a conviction was not recorded. In handing down his judgement the magistrate said “You are too old to dance Mr Fuller. Patrons have come to see the band, not some guy next to them.”

Magistrate Mack, we’d have to disagreed. You are never too old to dance.
