Black Sabbath Announcement Friday

Black Sabbath Announcement Friday

Written by Nicholas Jones on 7 November 2011

After months of speculation, rumours, and official statements, it appears the day is almost upon us when Black Sabbath will officially announce their reformation.

According to a press release sent around over the weekend the four original members of the band, Ozzy Osbourne, Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler and Bill Ward will be hosting a press conference on Friday.

The conference will be held at iconic LA venue Whisky A Go-Go where the band made their American debut 41 years ago on the same day. Outspoken punk rocker Henry Rollins has also been announced as the master of ceremonies.

Rumours started in August when Iommi was quoted in an British newspaper saying “We’re really looking forward to it and I think the stuff we’ve been writing is really good, it’s more back to the old original stuff.” However when Iommi caught wind of the statement, which he made off the record, he was furious telling reporters “I hope he’s enjoyed his moment of glory, he won’t have another at my expense.”

But many we’re quick to point out that Iommi didn’t actually deny that Sabbath were getting back together, a rumour made stronger when bandmate Ozzy Osbourne got a little too excited in an interview blurting out “It’s in the very early stages, so we haven’t recorded anything yet. If it works out, it’ll work out.”

Be sure to mark the date, Friday 11th November @ 11.11am, in you calendar guys. This is one press conference we don’t think you’ll want to miss. And if they don’t announce a reformation? Somewhere an angel will die. It’s on your head Tony.
