Poor old ABBA have had to go to battle once more over copyrighting infringements after a far-right Danish political party used their 1976 hit ‘Mamma Mia’ for their campaign song.

The youth faction of the party thought they would mix things up a bit and even went so far as to change the lyrics to ‘Mamma Pia’, a tribute to their leader Pia Kjærsgaard .

Benny and Bjorn have advised Universal Music to launch a legal case against the political party, saying “Firstly, you cannot just rewrite songs as you like and secondly we want them to understand that we have absolutely no interest in supporting their party.”

Obviously the Danish party didn’t realise the conflict of interest of using music from a band that is decidedly left-wing, as last year Benny Andersson donated over £90,000 to Sweden’s radical Feminist Initiative party. Looks like someone forgot to do their research.
