In an interview with rock blog Heavy Planet Kyuss Lives drummer Brant Bjork commented on bassist Nick Oliveri’s “interesting life” assuring fans of the legendary stoner rock band that the remaining members have an “amazing Plan B” in Kyuss’ other bassist Scott Reeder.

Oliveri’s career has been littered with questionable antics. After he and original Kyuss member Josh Homme started Queens Of The Stone Age Homme was forced to fire his bass-playing mate after repeated indiscretions. At the time Oliveri said, “Yeah, I get fucked up, I get real fucked up, but I show up to play.”

Earlier this year an Los Angeles S.W.A.T was forced to extract Oliveri from his house following a domestic violence incident and four-hour-plus standoff, after which a loaded gun and a bunch of drugs were allegedly found in the bassist’s home. Although released on $100,000 bail, Nick could face 15 years if convicted.

Scott Reeder, the only other bassist to have played with Kyuss in the early days is, according to Bjork, is on notice: “He’s super-excited to have been given the chance to get back on board … What can you say? The essence of what Kyuss became was born with Nick on bass. But Nick has a lifestyle that can be very interesting at best – and when Nick is unable to fulfil an obligation, we have an amazing Plan B.”

Continuation of the group relies on the availability of Reeder or Oliveri: “If either of those two guys isn’t able, then this just wouldn’t work.”
