2011 seems to be the year of bizarre and unexpected collaborations, so we’re not too surprised to hear about another potential weird matchup.

Jake Shears, the enigmatic frontman for everybody’s favourite glam band Scissor Sisters, has revealed in an interview that the band are working on a follow up to 2010’s Night Work and they’d love Queens Of The Stone Age frontman Josh Homme to help them.

In an interview with Daily Star, Shears said “It’d be a dream collaboration, because I’m a huge fan. Actually, I really, really want to sing on the next QOTSA album. And he’s a fan of our band too, as unlikely as that might be. I think that he’s a genius, a genuine rock hero living among us.”

How would a collaboration between the straightest man and gayest man on earth pan out? We’re not sure, but it wouldn’t be the first collaboration Homme has done. Early this year he teamed up with Arctic Monkeys to produce single ‘Don’t Sit Down ‘Cause I’ve Moved Your Chair’ from the bands latest effort Suck It And See.

The Arctic Monkeys collaboration produced arguably the best song on that record, and some of Scissor Sister’s latest efforts such as Harder You Get had a distinctly rockier tone than on previous records. So we’ll hold our judgement should something actually happen, after all, Josh is a Queen.
