How many acts around the world, let alone Australian, can boast seventeen gold, twelve platinum, three double-platinum, and ten multi-platinum awards from the sales of over 17 million DVDs and 4 million CDs, earning them a reported $45 million in 2009? Not many, but that’s exactly what legendary children’s group The Wiggles can boast as achievements since they formed in 1991.
And to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the group, ABC Music has collected a group of some of Australia’s best songwriters to reinterpret 20 of The Wiggles songs for tribute ablum Rewiggled: A Tribute To The Wiggles.
Rewiggled sees iconic songs by the group taken on by Australian artists including Blujuice covering Wake Up Jeff!, Hot Potato done by The Living End, Toot Toot, Chugga Chugga, Big Red Car from Oh Mercy and Architecture In Helsinki’s take on Wiggly Party. Sampology also provides a mash-up of Wiggles classics to close out the record.
