Proving that all you need is more money than sense, another well-intentioned newcomer has announced plans to bring a slew of international acts to Sydney to perform at an outdoor arena spectacular specially built of the occasion.

Sydney Resolution, not to be mistaken with the recently failed Revolution festival, announced its lineup that will include Jamiroquai, a reformed Culture Club, Pet Shop Boys, Guy Sebastian, Pseudo Echo, and Lyndsey Ollard. The event will be one of the first for the recently reformed Culture Club who announced their intention of a world tour and new album back in January.

A presser passed around overnight by the organisers stated, Sydney’s Glebe Island will turn into a ‘mini city’ for this very special event, with a custom-built venue providing the very best in entertainment and bars, an incredible on-site ‘village’ showcasing Sydney’s best local and international food, and a unique array of retail and market stalls.

Glebe Island is situated on the beautiful Sydney Harbour. All patrons will arrive and depart by ferry or bus service from terminals and wharfs provided by Sydney Resolution Concert Series. Please note there is no parking at the event. Gates open at 2pm, entertainment commences at 4:00pm and all performances will conclude by 1:45am. Gates close at 3.00am

Running off a similar idea of aiming for the 40 year+ market as the defunct Rewind 80s Festival, which was also run by an inexperienced group of investors, one can only guess how this concert may end up. Unlike promoters who make a living out of the job and can keep rolling from a loss, once-off promoters have the tendency to pull the plug when things go south which they more than often do.

Still while it’s fair to be sceptical this concert does show a lot of promise, assuming of course that you have very deep pockets. Tickets start at $198 and go all the way up to $750.
