Coldplay have announced this morning that they are touring Australia this November, bringing a stage show that uses LED wristbands so that the audience can be part of the show.

According to FasterLouder, the band spoke to Sunrise letting slip that they “are definitely touring Australia in November, 2012. Exact locations are yet to be finalised.”

Frontman Chris Martin, who also spoke to Adelaide Now yesterday, explained the arena stage spectacular they’ve got planned for Aussie fans saying he couldn’t wait to see everyone waving the wristbands with the lights controlled by the band.

“It’s a little self-indulgent on our part but we love the way it looks when thousands of people all have lights on them,” he said. “It’s such an amazing thing to be a part of. Snything that can keep us coming back to Australia, that lets us go on tour there is great.”

The last time fans down under got a chance to see Coldplay was at Splendour In The Grass last year. The group were booked to perform a series of corporate events here in Australia this month but pulled out due ‘personal reasons’.

Speaking from Splendour, our reviewer told us that “Pulp would normally be more than enough to headline any festival in Australia, but they get to play second fiddle on the line up to Coldplay – every secretary and casual music fan’s favourite stadium band.”

“Not having seen them for over 10 years, it’s a worthy sight just to be reminded what a stadium band like this can command in a performance.”

In other news, Martin and his bandmates have obviously been busy doing the rounds on breakfast shows around the world. Talking to Good Morning America over the weekend Martin expressed some regret on the name of Coldplay’s latest offering, Mylo Xyloto.

“It’s just something that we thought looked really good,” he explained. “But everywhere we go around the world people pronounce it in the most crazy ways and we’re beginning to regret it now.”

The Mylo Xyloto tour dates are expected to be announced next month.
