Yunyu Announces Twisted Tales Tour Dates

Unique songwriter-come-storyteller Yunyu offers a skewered perspective on classic fairytales through her pop-styled anime, and now she’s set to take her Twisted Tales on the road.

By projecting fairytales into a modern paradigm, the former triple j unearthed winner takes them far, far away from the benign stories we knew as children, corrupting everyone from Alice in Wonderland and Bluebeard to the Pied Piper and Pinocchio to give them a whole new meaning.

To bring Yunyu’s tales to life visually, she’s teamed up with New York Times #1 Best Selling Manga Artist Queenie Chan and leading animators from around the world. Their animations will merge with a live, five-piece backing band, VJ and designer Imogen Ross and Yunyu herslef to bring an innovative show that combines live music with cutting edge technology.

This cross-art form collaboration will make its way to Byron Bay, Brisbane, Melbourne and Sydney throughout dates in May & June, but you can see the first of Yunyu’s tales in the animated clip for ‘Dorothy’ below. In her own words, the Wizard Of Oz heroine “muses that she’s not in Kansas anymore and that her magic shoes will not return her to Earth.  This time, she is a cosmonaut finding herself stuck in space.”
