Coldplay Australian Tour 2012 Announced

Shortly after pulling out of their Australian commitments to attend the Grammys last February, Coldplay promised they would be “definitely touring” in November. Now they’ve made good on that promise with the announcement of a full headline tour across Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane.

Though the UK superstars visited our shores last year as part of Splendour In The Grass, these are actually their first headline dates in two years. The quartet are scheduled for a series of stadium shows in support of their latest studio album, the eccentrically named Mylo Xyloto, in what is touted to be the band’s biggest and most visually stunning yet.

Speaking on the impending tour, Chris Martin said, ““We can’t wait to get back to Australia and New Zealand this November. They’re such special places for us. These venues are pretty huge, the Aussie and New Zealand crowds are always incredible and we’ll be bringing everything we’ve got. It’s going to be big.”

Michael Chugg, Executive Chairman of Chugg Entertainment who are presenting the tour, also got on board with the excitement in a press release, “Having seen the show at the Hollywood Bowl a couple of weeks ago, I can guarantee fans are going to be blown away by this show.”

Tagging along for the tour will be Alabama band The Pierces and Australia’s own Temper Trap, who are soon embarking on their own national tour to celebrate the release of their self-title sophomore album.

Tickets for Coldplay’s 2012 tour will be available to the general public from May 25th, but Chugg Entertainement have set up a special pre-sale for Visa cardholders a week earlier, full details here.
