Syn’s Free Kick Finalists Gig Announced

Written by Al Newstead on 23 May 2012

Melbourne’s Student Youth Network, aka SYN, have announced the finalists of their Free Kicks competition.

The intiative, set-up as a partnership between SYN and Reclink Australia, was formed to find find a new and emerging band to play at the 2012 Reclink Community Cup. Having received an overwhelming response, SYN’s music department had their work cut out narrowing it down to just five finalists.

The finalists (in no particular order) chosen to battle it out at The Tote on Thursday May 24 by an expert panel of judges from SYN, Triple R 102.7FM, PBS 106.7FM and the Rockdogs are:

DAMN TERRAN

DRUNK MUMS

HOWLIN’ STEAM TRAIN

UDAYS TIGER

SHERIFF

The five acts will be rocking out at The Tote tomorrow night to determine the victor, who will then have the honour of playing the opening set at the Reclink Community Cup on Sunday June 24 at Elsternwick Park, alongside the Melburnian dream team line-up of Blue Ruin, Boomgates and Bunny Monroe.
