All three members of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs are currently in the country for VIVID Live as part of Karen O’s opera, Stop The Virgens, but FasterLouder reports it might not be  the only performance we can expect from the New York trio.

Karen O, along with guitarist Nick Zinner and drummer Brian Chase, are part of the “psycho-opera” that will perform over five nights at the Sydney festival, with an all-star musical cast that includes former Beastie Boys keys-man Money Mark plus The Greenhornes/Raconteurs-men Jack Lawrence and Patrick Keeler, Jason Grisell of Bubbles and N.A.S.A’s Sam Spiegel.

Before they begin their season however, Yeah Yeah Yeahs’ drummer Brian Chase, has booked a show at the The Flinders in Surry Hills, touted on a Facebook event as ‘Yeah Yeah Yeahs & Australian friends.’

Chase is calling the not-so-secret event “an improvised collaboration” with local artists, including the likes of exotic-pop singer Sophia Brous, Shags Chamberlain (bassist for Lost Animal and Pikelet), Jack Mannix of Circle Pit, as well as Melbourne’s only M83-baiting, bar-brawling quintet: Teenage Mothers. With appearances from a ‘mystery guitarist’ and ‘special guests.’

Will that mystery guitarist and guest be bandmates Zinner and Karen O? Will Money Mark make an inevitable MCA shout-out? Will the Teenage Mothers start an all-in fight with The Raconteurs? The only way to find out is head on down (or stay tuned for headlines)…
