Mumford and Sons Leak Details Of Unannounced Australian Tour 2012
Good ol’ twitter, always providing the loosest of lips with a forum for breaking news. One such example is Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros, who confirmed that they’ll be heading to Australia before the end of the year as support act for folkies Mumford And Sons.
FasterLouder first spotted the news via a tweet from Herald Sun music man, Mikey Cahill, following a recent interview with Edward Sharpe’s frontman, Alex Ebert:
The pair will be visiting Australian soil as an extension to their ‘The Gentlemen of the Road’ tour, an American trot touted as a series of ‘one-day festivals’, in which Mumford and Sons headline a curated event that includes local arts and businesses in order to “celebrate the local people, food and music” according to the band’s press release.
Likening the experience to a ‘Victorian travelling circus’, they add, “We’re keen to promote the town’s local businesses, and we’ll be using the local bars and venues for after-show parties, whilst working closely with the local people to get everyone involved in making these shows spectacular.”
The band are no strangers to unique touring schedules. Mumford and Sons and Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros previously teamed up, along with the Old Crow Medicine Show, for a six-date concert tour through America’s Southwest for the ‘Railroad Revival Tour.’ The tour announcement follows reports that Mumford and Sons are set to release a new studio album before the end of the year.
