Splendour In The Grass Offers Chance To ‘Mingle With The Stars’ With VIP Tickets

Written by Al Newstead on 5 June 2012

Tickets for Splendour In The Grass 2012 sold out in just 43 minutes after being put on sale, in a huge vote of confidence for the festival which will be returning to Belongil Fields in Byron, and the festival’s fastest sell-out ever. Then Splendour organisers plotted a re-sale ticket scheme, and now – for the first time ever – they’re offering Gold Class VIP Tickets to the general public.

The strictly limited Gold passes will give punters access to a top-tier Splendour experience. Including express entry into the festival site, access to the VIP toilets, as well as access to the exclusive Gold Bar for the full three day run of Splendour. Located stage-side of the main performance area, the Supertop, the Gold Bar is essentially the fully kitted, VIP area usually reserved for performing artists, media and industry figures – as well as the coveted side-of-stage viewing area.

The festival’s co-producer, Jessica Ducrou issued a statement in regards to the introduction of the VIP ticket, saying “many overseas festivals, and other Australian events, offer VIP tickets and it’s something our patrons have been asking us about. We withheld a very small allocation of tickets to provide it as an exclusive offer this year.”

The Gold Class tickets will be made available as of Friday 8 June to the tune of $700 a head. Punters who already purchased tickets in the festival’s quickest sell-out ever, are able to upgrade to the VIP tickets for $350.

This means that the exclusive tickets won’t be available as part of the official re-sale that started today, offering punters who are unable to attend the event an online system to resell their tickets, or take advantage of their refund policy.

So will you be ponying up for the chance to rub shoulders with some of the festival’s biggest acts? Just imagine helping Jack White co-ordinating the ‘most metaphors’ into his set, checking out the latest material from Bloc Party side of stage; or simply rubbing shoulders (and comparing heights) with the pint-sized Brooklyn femcee, Azealia Banks.

Or, you know, just getting to use the VIP toilets – that’s a coup for you right there.
