Soundwave 2013 Confirm Another Act For Lineup

Leaks about the lineup for Soundwave 2013 have been bubbling across the internet the last couple of weeks, with sludge metallers Kingdom Of Sorrow and Cannibal Corpse side-project Six Feet Under already confirmed for the hard rock festival thanks to some surreptitious tweeting, but today one more act has been confirmed; ironically through the announcement of a tour postponement.

The start of the month saw the announcement of an Australian tour from Toronto-bred hardcore act Cancer Bats, scheduled to play three very special dates this July; but a press release from the band’s touring promoters this morning has revealed that they’ve been forced to reschedule their impending tour.

The full statement reads:

“Soundwave Touring & Cancer bats are truly sad to announce the postponement of the band’s tour scheduled for early July.

The band have explained the need to postpone the dates and we love them for their honesty and their love for the fans as they have asked to ensure we reward their fans for their patience and understanding.”

The bad news has led to some good news however, with the confirmation that they’ll be returning later in the year to play an expanded tour that covers all five state capitals, with an appearance on the Soundwave 2013 lineup. With the statement adding:

“In good news we can confirm that the band will instead return for Soundwave 2013 which means they will now be performing in all 5 state capitals.

Furthermore, the fans who hold tickets for the July dates will be amply rewarded as those tickets will now be valid for the band’s 3 SideWaves in conjunction with Soundwave Festival. These shows will feature a rather gargantuan line-up, making Willie Wonka’s so called golden ticket look rather shabby!”

In an upcoming interview with Tone Deaf, Cancer Bats’ singer Liam Cormier, originally noted his excitement for their planned July dates.

“It’s definitely going to be a party – with the fact that we only have three shows, we’re going to be going as hard as we can and pack in as many jams as possible,” siad Cormier. “In those three days we’ll definitely have a lot of road miles under our belts so we’ll try play as long as possible to make up for the fact that we don’t get to go to Australia that often.”

Turns out that party is going to have wait a bit longer, but with the news that they’re offering fans who had purchased tickets to the cancelled shows valid entry to their SideWaves concerts, they’ve definitely made up for the fact they don’t get to Australia often.
