Sick of all the 90s nostalgia acts heading to Australia? Surely you’ve got room for one more, especially if it’s an ‘All-Star’ like Smashmouth right?

The group that gave us hits like ‘Walkin’ On The Sun’ and the Shrek soundtrack cover of The Monkees’ Neil Diamond-penned’ ‘I’m A Believer’, are heading to Australia for the second time ever.

Not only that but they’ll be bringing a brand new album in tow, the first in six years from a band that sold over 10 million albums worldwide.

Releasing in September, Magic is described by the American act as the “sound of summer”, with frontman Steve Harwell enthusing, “We’re so excited to start performing some of the new songs from this album. We’ve got so many hits on this new record it’s ridiculous! So get ready for some serious (wait for it…) MAGIC!”

Containing such “first-listen gems” as ‘Flippin’ Out’ and the title track, which “jump out at you like a barrel of monkeys.” While other tracks – like ‘Better With Time’ and ‘Out Of Love’ demonstrate how Harwell’s “rantin’-chantin’ approach” has developed over time. But wait there’s more!

Including the “heartbreaking-hilarious ode to doomed deomestic bliss” that is ‘Future Ex-Wife’ which is “as catchy as they come.”

You’ll certainly get a chance to catch something when Smash Mouth make their way for a national tour this October, complete with the original lineup of Steve Harwell (vocals), Paul Delisle (Bass) and Mike Klooster (keyboards), along with the addition of “rookie players”: Randy Cooke (drums) and Mike Krompass (guitar).

The press release also boasts that “Krompass, who has worked with Nelly Furtado and David Archuleta in the past, also helmed the producer’s mantle, capturing the quintessential Smash Mouth party sound as well as helping to take them to the next level.”

So don’t get caught out ‘looking kinda dumb with a finger and a thumb in the shape of an L on your forehead’, and be sure to catch the nostalgic action on Smash Mouth’s Australian tour.
