You know you’re doing something right when Daft Punk want to remix you and Sven Vath, Richie Hawtin and Erol Alkan are playing all your latest work.

I:Cube is the alias of French music producer Nicholas Chaix. I:Cube first gained limelight in Paris’ underground dance scene during the French House explosion in the mid to late 90s.

His first widely notable release under this pseudonym was a remix of Daft Punk’s ‘Around the World‘ in 1996. Later that year Daft Punk returned the favour, remixing I:Cube’s own track Disco Cubizm. I:Cube went on to release countless EPs on cult French label Versatile Records and Les Edits Du Golem such as Falling, Mingus In My Pocket and Cubo Edits as well as five studio albums.

If you had to cherry pick from those five releases, you’d most likely jump to Adore– his exploration in France’s deep jazz history. Live at the Planetarium which was created for the Starball Festival at the La Villette Planetarium in France and dips into the sounds of Global Communication and Aphex Twin; and – without a doubt – his latest entry “M” Megamix which Dummy Magazine said has ‘changed everything on how the electronic album has been written’.

“M” Megamix is a stroke of genius that bridges the gap between a mixtape, an album and a live recording. 24 tracks that cover house and techno and exchange their DNA strands with disco loops, Italo ballads, French romanticism, a love for the ruff, the tuff and the tender.
